For Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam Jill Magid has made a body of new works. As with Evidence Locker, her contribution to the Liverpool Biennial 04, this exhibition refers to the disciplining systems in current society, thanks to the help of forensic artists, among others. Exploiting the fictional possibilities of forensic services, Magid made pieces that evoke questions rather than address functionality. They all point to a woman whose identity and physical appearance remain impalpable, in spite of the attention that is directed towards her. Weaving a narrative pattern, the artist-as-director positions the viewer in the problematic role of a witness, as an observer of events that have already transpired.
